I've always kind of liked this road...the rocks remind me of the realllly old western movies where the bad guys are setting up a trap and some has to say "Head 'em off at the pass, Rocky" :giggle:

The funny thing is, some of the old western movies actually WERE filmed in this area. Not too far from where I can tell this pic was taken is a place called Corginville. There's an awesome ditch that used to be a river until it dried up and bat caves you can climb in. It's very beautiful^^

 No need to go too far afield from Hollywood :giggle: (grew up in Santa Barbara and lived many years in Ventura and Ojai so have been on this road a fair number of time :D) Love it in the spring!

Oh God it's gorgeous around that time. I just love how the cold starts to leave and the smell of rain^^

It amuses me how so many people think deserts are bare - the area around Simi and Lancaster and the whole Antelope Valley is filled with life  Have you ever made it to the Poppy Preserve? I never did while living in So Cal and often regret it now that I'm up in Northern CA...

they've got a decent website which keeps track of the poppy bloom timing  but sadly due to CA's poor fiscal health the Park is only open for a couple months a year ): Site link: [link]
